I see you, I recognise your needs

I learned about the greeting “Sawubona”  and it spoke to me so much.

It is a a Zulu greeting which is rich in meaning that probably can’t be conveyed that well in words. Roughly it means:

“All my attention is with you.

I see you and I allow myself to discover your need.

I allow myself to see your fears, to identify your mistakes and accept them.

I accept you for what you are and you are part of me.”

Who wouldn’t want to be seen this way?

But it can be so had to verbalise what we need,  even to ourselves.

Art and the process of creating can help us here.  It can enrich our lives by  helping us to us to get in touch with yourselves,  give us space to make sense of our world and allow us the great gift of self care.
